Killed His Wife and Hung Himself
In October 2017 there was an interesting case at the Coroner's Court in Boston. A coroner was supposed to decide about a cause of death of a married couple and provide their two sons with death certificates.
In the past, the family faced a serious problem of the father's alcoholism. The man was 49 years old and he could not quit drinking simply by using his free will. So, he moved with his family to Spalding to run away from noisy London to start a new life. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Moreover, he cheated on his wife and he got caught red-handed by his wife which triggered a serious argument between him and his wife, as the youngest son testified at the Coroner's Court.
It happened shortly before the wife's dissapearance. She was a 50 year old Christian and religious woman. Her son talked with proud how devoted she had been to a church and how she would go to church every Sunday. Suddenly she went missing.
At first her husband told his son, who was living with them, that she went to see her friend from a prayer group. The son found it surprising because it was Mother's Day. Besides, he was very dissappointed that he was not going to spend it with her, especially as he had bought flowers for her. Nevertheless, he called her and when she did not answer texted her to wish her happy mother's day. Shortly after he received a reply saying that she will come home soon and asked him not to worry. But, after a week of not coming home the son became very anxious about what is happening with her. At that time he found her cellphone hidden in a sofa at their home. He figured it must have been his father who was texting him.
In the mean time, the father was drinking all the time and he seemed very depressed. The father and the son got engaged in a fight over money stolen from the boy's bank account, probably by his father for alcohol.
One day when the other son came home from a university he found his father's body hanging from a ceiling. He immediately called his younger brother saying-"Dad killed himself". It was at that time when the police started to look for his wife. They found her decomposing body after few days of a police search. She was wrapped in clothes at the house.
Medical report only stated that she had bruises but doctors could not find a cause of death because too much time has passed. It could have been strangulation but it was hard to say for sure. Nevertheless, it was suspicious that, as the police found out, the friend where the mother was supposed to be staying had not seen her for a long time.
So, because of the texts sent by the man from his wife's cellphone and because of his lies as to where she is he would get arrested, a police officer testifying at the court said.
But, the Coroner's Court could only conclude that the cause of death of the man was hanging and of the woman is unkwnown. It can only be speculated that he had killed his wife and then he pretended that she is still alive for many days. It is until he decided to kill himself.
