People with Down Syndrome can be very successful in their lives. Angela Bachiller is one of such examples as in 2013 she became a councilwoman in Spain. She also has many other talents and her colorful life shows how valuable member of the society she is. But, how did she become so successful?

One of the reasons for her success was her personality as she described herself as "friendly, positive and stubborn" for the Spanish newspaper Publico. It helped her to become the first councilwoman with Down Syndrome and before that to be an administrative assistant for three years in the area of Social Welfare and Family.
Another factor which was certainly relevant for her success was the support which she has had from her parents who cared a lot about her education. Therefore, Angela started going to school at 1 year of age. The reason for it is that her parents wanted her to have a good future and good education was the key to it.  “We insisted much on education because we knew that without discipline and knowledge you are not going anywhere,” says Isabel.

But, her life does not only involve learning and hard work as she also plays piano, dance Latino dance and she attends music theory classes. Besides, she loves to read and travel.
She even compared a book to the best friend because: “It is always there and never demands anything from you.” Besides, her mother, Isabel Guerra, once said that: “She goes out with her friends, to play sports, to the movies, to have dinner, etc…” So, she had a quite normal life like many of us.

To sum up, in her story there is also a lesson for everyone. Firstly, hard work and good education are crucial to have a successful life. Secondly, when parents sypport their children they are capable to achieve a lot in their lives. Lastly, you cannot judge a book by its cover as probably no one would expect a person with Down Syndrome to be such a talented person.
