Impact of Praying on Health

Image result for praying

A lot f people pray, either regularly or when something bad happens such as sickness. Others have doubts as to whether prayer is helpful because our prayers often seem to be unheard. But, there is scientific evidence to show that praying has positive impact on our lives.
According to a study published in PLoS OneTrusted Source Christians who go to church more than once a week are 55 percent less likely to die during the next 18 years than people who do not go church as often.
Another study from 2016 carried out by JAMA Internal MedicineTrusted Source also indicates that women who attend church services more than once per week are 33 percent less likely to die during the next 16 years than those who do not go to church at all.
However, it is not clear from the research whether prayer is helpful or the social support people get from other believers. Although, during mass people do not talk to each other as it may be inappropriate.
Besides, what seems to help people lead a healthier life is a prayer. It is similar to meditation or yoga which Christians are not allowed to do. Therefore, prayer is seen a Christian form of meditation and it has a similar impact on our health.
Most importantly, prayer helps to reduce anxiety and depression by reducing stress. Besides, it helps to lower our blood pressure which then leads to lesser chances of developing a heart condition or of having a heart attach.
To sum up, going to church is an element of leading a healthy lifestyle.
