The Last Chance to Be Saved

Babies are long-awaited precious gifts from God for many couples. But, for some girls having a baby is overwhelming and stressful so that they decide to give a baby away. It poses a danger for those little creatures. But, there is a great initiative to ensure their safety. So, what is it?

It is a package of bills which have been passed in Michigan which authorise installation of baby boxes at fire stations and other locations. Their purpose is to save unwanted babies which would otherwise be left in dumpsters for certain death or killed by own mothers. 

Such horrible things happen because young parents may be scared and confused as to what to do in this difficult for them situation. The bill adds to the already existent Safe Delivery of Newborns Law which includes a right of women to surrender their babies at police stations, hospitals and fire stations within 72 hours of children's birth without any penalty. The new legislation increases the time to 30 days and allows installation of safe boxes for babies at those locations. 

These boxes are heated and padded with equipment which notifies workers as soon as there is a baby inside. Then, it is given to Child Protective Services. 

It is important to create as many initiatives as possible to ensure safety on newborn babies. So, baby boxes are certainly one of the best options to save their lives.
